A crash on the M2 caused delays for motorists this afternoon.

The accident caused delays on the London-bound carriageway when a car crashed and came to a stop on a grass verge between both carriageways.

The crash happened between junction three, the Chatham turn-off and junction two the Cuxton turn off at about 3.10pm.

Police said they put a rolling road operation in place briefly to allow traffic to pass the crash site.

The road remained open throughout.
