Medway slowly began to get back to normal today as the weather conditions started to ease.

There was only light snowfall yesterday and with temperatures predicted to rise during the week, most people were returning to work or school this morning.

After two days of widespread closures, the majority of Medway's schools were open again today. Some were opening later than usual to allow the site to be cleared.

AS modular exams planned for today will go ahead. Arrangements were put in place so that all exams should still be able to go ahead following the decision by the exam boards that they must take place today.

Schools will aim to stay open for exams even if they are unable to open for other pupils.

Police warned motorists to stagger their journeys this morning or take public transport in order to ease possible problems.

Assistant Chief Constable Andy Adams said: "We are aware that it is likely to be a busy day on the roads and so people should allow longer for their journeys.

"I would like to thank the people of Kent for taking note of our advice during the last few days. You co-operation has helped the essential services to get on with their jobs."
