A young man accused of a string of motoring offences has been remanded in custody.

Danny Brookfield, of Pier Road, Gillingham, appeared in court on Saturday, after being charged with several offences relating to a police chase across Kent.

Brookfield, 20, was charged with dangerous driving, driving without insurance, failing to stop after an accident, driving while disqualified and attempting to escape lawful custody, following an alleged a 10-mile pursuit, which started on the Sheppey Crossing and ended in Beechings Way, Twydall, at about 6.20am on Thursday, March 14.

The police apparently chased a 4x4 vehicle from the bridge but the vehicle crashed in Twydall and ended with a man being surrounded by officers.
During the pursuit a police car was hit, but no officers were hurt.

At least 12 police vehicles were seen at the crash site as these pictures taken by resident Tom Jagot-Jarvis, show.

Police confirmed a patrol car tried to stop the vehicle just before 6am on the A249 Sheppey Crossing.

Two men in the vehicle, a Land-Rover, were taken to hospital following the incident. One suffered injuries which were serious, but not life-threatening.
A second man, who was in police custody on Friday, was later released without charge.

Brookfield did not enter any pleas in relation to the charges and the case was sent to Maidstone Crown Court and he will next appear there on Tuesday, March 26.
