Helicopter search after police chase leads to man's arrest

A helicopter was scrambled to help search woodland after a police chase.

Officers tried to stop a car in Palmerston Road, Chatham, at 4.15pm yesterday evening but it sped off.

A chase ensued which ended four-and-a-half miles away in Bell Lane, Walderslade, 20 minutes later.

Two men then got out and ran into a nearby field.

A helicopter was called in and a 26-year-old man from Chatham was tracked down and arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving. He has since been released pending further investigation.

The search for the second man is ongoing.
