Lordswood shooting sparks hunt for gunman as man shot on doorstep

Police are hunting a gunman after a man was shot through the front door of a house on Friday night.

The injured man, who has not been named, was rushed to hospital after he was hurt at the home in Weybridge Close, Lordswood.

He suffered serious leg injuries and underwent surgery on Saturday.

Armed officers raced to the scene at 9pm following reports a gunshot was heard in the street.

Neighbours were told by police to stay inside their homes and lock the doors.

One said: “We had a police officer over to ask us questions and they said they were going to be in the area all night and Saturday."

Paramedics were also called and the man was taken to hospital suffering leg injuries.

Officers carrying guns also carried out a search of the area and were still at the scene well into the night.

The home was still cordoned off with police tape on Saturday morning.

No one has been arrested in relation to the incident and police inquiries continue.
