We also find out more about the fight to save the Age Concern centre in Chatham and the continued hunt for robbers who tied up a terrified woman in her own home.

On a lighter note, we meet Alfie the German shepherd who has shed the pounds after giving up his favourite snack and find out the latest nominee for the Medway Culture and Design Awards – the closing date for these is on Friday.

It’s all in the Monday edition of the Medway Messenger – in the shops now.
