Inquest of Patrick Mannion, of Lonsdale Drive, Rainham being held this month

An inquest into the death of a man who was found injured at his home later died in hospital will be held later this month.

Patrick Mannion was found with injuries at his home in Lonsdale Drive, Rainham, pictured above, in December last year and died in a London hospital on New Year’s Day.

This newspaper previously revealed Mr Mannion died from a wound to the back of his neck.

After he was found injured, police and forensic teams spent several days at his home and a woman, aged 56, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

At the time, police said Mr Mannion, 52, has suffered fatal head injuries.

Initially officers said they were treating the death as unexplained but following the results of a postmortem, police said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding it.

The inquest was at Archbishop's Palace in Maidstone

The woman was released without charge.

Officers later delivered leaflets in the area to reassure other residents that no crime was committed.

An inquest into Mr Mannion’s death was opened at Archbishop’s Palace, in Maidstone, in March and it was then cause of death was revealed to be a penetrative wound to the back of the neck.

The inquest was adjourned and will be resumed and concluded at the same venue at 2pm on Tuesday, May 16.
