A mum has raised an amazing £2,800 for Macmillan - roughly 25p for each of the 120,000 hairs she had shaved from her head.

Natalie Carter, 36, from Rainham, decided to chop off her beloved locks in memory of her mum, Lesley, who died of cancer 13 years ago.

The financial consultant, for Your Move, Rainham, said: “On the night of the shave I was extremely nervous and very emotional, it was a huge shock when I first looked in the mirror but I love it now.

“Jason from Jason Liddiard Hairdressing in Rainham High Street, completed the shave with a little help from my other half, Dallas Haley.

“Jason managed to shave my hair while still making it look feminine. My hairdresser Melanie Clark has also been amazing cutting and styling my hair for free while it is growing back.”

Miss Carter donated her hair to The Little Princess Trust, so it could be made into a wig for children who have lost their hair after having cancer treatment.
