A man from Strood who exposed himself at a London Underground station has been sentenced to four weeks in prison.

Christopher Dove, 39, of Frindsbury Road in Strood, pleaded guilty to outraging public decency, after walking into Piccadilly Circus station naked from the waist down just before 7.30am on Sunday, May 25.

The court heard Dove attempted to talk with a member of staff before sitting on the floor.

When British Transport Police (BTP) officers arrived, they found Dove, still sitting down, with excrement smeared over the lower half of his body and the station floor.

When questioned by officers, Dove claimed his trousers had been stolen and that he had entered the station to ask for help.

“Such behaviour will not be tolerated anywhere on the rail network and this case should serve to highlight our determination to deal with any cases of indecency" - PC Chris Oliver

Speaking after Dove was sentenced on Wednesday, PC Chris Oliver of the BTP, said: “This was an unpleasant case for officers to deal with.

"More importantly, Dove’s actions were grossly offensive to members of staff and passengers at Piccadilly Circus station.

“Such behaviour will not be tolerated anywhere on the rail network and this case should serve to highlight our determination to deal with any cases of indecency.”

At the hearing Dove was also found guilty of breaching a community order issued on Wednesday, April 23, but no action was taken on this breach.
