Chatham Town will check on the fitness of striker Jack Jeffery ahead of the Ryman League Division 1 North trip to Heybridge Swifts after he limped off in Tuesday night’s 3-0 defeat at Enfield Town.

The former West Ham youngster was replaced by Joe Fuller 10 minutes into the second half and player-boss Kevin Watson was due to assess him further at training on Thursday.

It was their fifth successive away defeat in Ryman Division 1 North and the third time in four games they had conceded three goals on their travels.

Watson said: "We were good for 55 minutes and even their manager said that we were the better side in the first
half.

"Jack had a chance and Lee Hales a half-chance but we didn’t create as many openings as we should.

"Brad was unlucky for the own goal although it was decent ball into the box and we should have probably defended it a bit better.

"We started the second half all right but were caught out pushing too many men forward."

Chats travel to Heybridge looking to record a double over the Essex side, after a 3-2 win at Maidstone Road back in October.

Watson said: "We have to go back to the drawing board but there were positives to take out of the Enfield game.

"I want us to start the same way as we did on Tuesday but we have to start
scoring."
