A teenager who was caught with a large hunting knife and a bag full of drugs has been locked up.

Kieran Boswell, 19, was found with the blade and cannabis in Commercial Road, Strood, in February.

Boswell, of Cromer Road in the town, ran from officers but fled down a dead-end alleyway. Once there, he hid the knife.

When officers arrested and searched him, they found the knife and its sheath nearby.

A second knife was also found in Boswell’s bag alongside cannabis split into 25 deal bags, as well as two plastic carrier bags containing a number of empty deal bags.

Boswell pleaded guilty to two counts of possessing a knife and possession of cannabis with the intent to supply as well as possession of the class B drug when he appeared at Maidstone Crown Court earlier this month.

He was locked up in a young offender’s institution for 13 months.

Investigating officer PC Paul Stevens said: “Although Boswell faced some serious consequences for dealing drugs, it was ultimately his decision to carry knives that landed him in prison.

“If you carry a knife you are carrying a deadly weapon, and those who decide to do so are actually more likely to be a victim of a serious assault.

“If you know someone who carries a weapon, report them, they could end up harming you, themselves or someone else.”
