Man arrested after drugs and knuckle duster seized during investigation at Chatham and Gillingham train station

A knuckle duster along with a haul of illegal drugs were seized by police.

A 30-year-old man, from Chatham , was arrested following a planned operation in the Towns at the weekend.

The weapon was found along with drugs suspected to be cocaine

Officers from the Kent Police's Medway Community Policing Team worked with the British Transport Police in a joint operation which took place at Chatham and Gillingham train stations on Sunday.

The man, who was arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon and a drug dealing offence, was released pending further investigation.

Insp Matthew Burbeck, of the Medway Community Safety Unit, said: "We routinely carry out these proactive operations as they help us to gather intelligence and demonstrate our commitment to protecting the public from criminal activity.

"We will continue to work with our partners to tackle and disrupt the supply of drugs and weapons within Medway."
