When Charmaine Kember's daughter fell seriously ill, the quick and decisive action of two paramedics made all the difference.

Robin Kissack and Ian Morwood got Charmaine's daughter Annabelle to hospital just in time, where she was rushed to A&E.

The mum from Gillingham, Medway, had given birth just days before and said: "At the time we had no idea just how sick she was.

"Robin and Ian did though, and did a fantastic job of keeping us extremely calm in what could have easily escalated into a very stressful situation.

"To this day Robin and Ian are regularly thought about in this household. We are so grateful for their caring, kind actions and attitudes on that day" - Mum Charmaine

"They quickly and competently assessed the problem and got our daughter Annabelle, who was four at the time, safely into the ambulance.

"They blue lighted her to our local hospital just in time where they rushed her straight into re-sus for emergency treatment."

But the family's worries were not over yet, and the paramedics stayed to support them as things took a turn for the worse.

Charmaine said: "She had been there no longer than five minutes when Annabelle had a seizure and deteriorated rapidly.

"The situation worsened and Robin and Ian comforted us as we watched our daughter.

"Ian kindly looked after my eldest daughter who was with us at the hospital by taking her for something to eat and to remove her from a frightening ordeal."

Eventually Annabelle stabilised, and despite the time that has passed since she became ill in December 2012, the family still frequently remember the two paramedics.

Charmaine said: "To this day Robin and Ian are regularly thought about in this household. We are so grateful for their caring, kind actions and attitudes on that day.

"They were first on scene, assessed the situation, gave that all-important emergency treatment, and got our daughter to hospital just in time to receive life saving treatment.

"They not only looked after our daughter they also looked after us. They comforted us, kept us calm, and answered our questions honestly."

After reading Charmaine's nomination, judges from kmfm and Kent Reliance decided they should be named Kent 999 Emergency Person of the Year in the Kent Hero Awards.

Over 5 weeks, listeners were invited to nominate friends, family or people they knew.

Kmfm received 100s of nominations for incredible people right the way across Kent via phone, email and handwritten nominations in Kent Reliance branches.

The judging panel, consisted of the kmfm and Kent Reliance team, who listened and read through every nomination.

Each winner received a trophy as well as £500 cash to give themselves a well-deserved treat.
