Commuters faced long delays this evening after a lorry hit a railway bridge in Newington.
A witness called Kent police at about 3pm to say a lorry had struck the railway bridge in Church Lane.
But when the caller went back outside, the lorry had gone.
Southeastern suspended services on the line while damage to the bridge was assessed by Network Rail engineers.
All trains are now running again, but passengers are still facing delays of more than an hour both in and out of London.
