West Sussex man arrested in alleged road rage incident on High Street, Lower Stoke near Rochester

A lorry driver who reportedly smashed a parked car's wing mirror with a hammer as they drove past was also allegedly found with two knives.

The other motorist was travelling with his children when he pulled over to allow a truck to pass where the road narrows on High Street, Lower Stoke, Rochester.

The suspect was arrested

As the truck passed, the driver is alleged to have leant out of the window and smashed the wing mirror of the stationary vehicle with a hammer.

The mirror was damaged and the victim and his children were left shaken, police said.

The believed road rage incident happened shortly before 1pm on Sunday.

The victim called the police with the vehicle details and officers spotted the truck on Grain Road at around 3pm.

It was stopped and a search conducted where police reportedly located two knives and a hammer.

A man in his 20 from West Sussex was arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon and a public order offence.

He has since been released under investigation while inquiries continue.
