The London-bound carriageway of the M2 will be closed at Gillingham tonight due to pothole repairs.

National Highways said one lane was closed on the motorway between Junction 5 at Sittingbourne and Junction 4 at Gillingham earlier today due to 'waterproof failing'.

They said a full closure of the carriageway would be enforced tonight to carry out emergency repairs when traffic is lighter.

Motorist are being urged to find alternative routes.
