A man in Chatham has been arrested by Met police Trident team after a shooting in north London

A man in Chatham has been arrested in connection with a suspected drive-by shooting that left the victim with multiple wounds.

Officers from the Met's Trident Command apprehended the 40-year-old man outside Halfords in Batchelor Street on Monday.

He was taken to a London police station and subsequently released on bail while police continue to investigate.

The man was arrested near the Halfords in Bachelor Street

Officers were called to reports of a shooting in Green Lane, Goodmayes, north east London at 5.49am on Wednesday, July 1.

The victim, a man in his 50s was taken by to an east London hospital where he was treated for gunshot injuries.

He was in a critical condition but has since been discharged from hospital.

Detectives believe that a number of shots were fired from a vehicle.
