Man charged after double stabbing

A Medway man has been charged and remanded in custody after a double stabbing in the early hours of Sunday (Dec 20).

Two women who were also arrested have been released without charge.

The three who are all from Chatham , were arrested after two men were stabbed at around 3am on Sunday in Upper Luton Road .

They are in a stable condition at Medway Maritime Hospital after having surgery.

One man suffered a wound to his thigh and the other suffered wounds to his upper body.

Upper Luton Road was closed for most of Sunday for forensic investigations. Police were still on the scene on Monday

Richard Peter Mumford, 28, from Upper Luton Road , Chatham , has been charged with GBH with intent.

He was held at Medway Police Station after being charged and was due to appear in court today (Tuesday, December 22).
