Would-be robber tries to snatch bag from woman walking on Great Lines, Gillingham

A cyclist tried to steal a woman's handbag as she walked on the Great Lines in broad daylight.

Police were called to the heritage park at 4.10pm on Wednesday following a report of an attempted robbery.

According to the victim, a woman in his 30s, a cyclist had tried to grab her bag before making off.

A man has been charged with attempted robbery

Following a search, 18-year-old Hangaw Ismail, of Pattens Lane, Rochester, was arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery.

He has since been charged with the offence and released on bail to appear at Medway Magistrates' Court on Tuesday May 15.
