Man charged with cocaine possession after searches before League two Gillingham v Leyton Orient match at Priestfield Stadium

A man has been charged with possession of cocaine after a search of football fans entering a stadium.

Supporters flocked to Priestfield Stadium last Tuesday to watch Gillingham beat Leyton Orient 2-0.

As they entered, searches took place and one man was then arrested, and later charged, with drug offences.

Peter Tyler, of Oakdale Road in Greater London, was charged with possession of cocaine and later bailed.

Th 40-year-old is due to appear in Medway Magistrates’ Court on June 23.

During the match another man was arrested on suspicion of affray but has since been released with no further action taken.

The match itself saw controversy after a lighting issue stopped play for 23 minutes in the second half.
