Kent shops burglary suspect appears in court following incidents in Rochester, Gillingham, Gravesend, Sittingbourne, Tonbridge, Greenhithe and Aylesford

A man has been charged with burglaries reported at shops in seven Kent towns.

An investigation was launched by police following break-ins at stores in Medway, Sittingbourne and north and west Kent.

Paul McMullen, 40, has been charged with seven burglaries at shops in Kent

The incidents are said to have taken place in Rochester, Gillingham, Gravesend, Sittingbourne, Tonbridge, Greenhithe and Aylesford.

Paul McMullen has been charged with 10 alleged burglary offences between August 2019 and this month.

It is claimed the 40-year-old stole cash from the tills amounting to more than £2,500 during the incidents – three of which are alleged to have happened in Bexleyheath, Ilford and Chelmsford as well as the seven in Kent.

McMullen, of Fencepiece Road, Ilford, east London, was charged by police yesterday and has been remanded in custody.

He was also charged with an additional count of theft after cash was reported stolen from a shop in Brentwood, Essex,

He will appear at Medway Magistrates' Court today.
