'Sex offender' arrested after vigilante sting in Jackson's Field, Rochester

A suspected sex offender arrested after a vigilante sting has been released under investigation.

The 28-year-old was confronted by self-styled 'paedophile hunters' in Jackson's Field, Rochester, just after 11pm on Saturday.

He was accused of grooming a teenage girl online who was actually one of the vigilantes in disguise.

The man was arrested on Saturday night after allegedly communicating with a vigilante posing as a young girl

Police were called and the man was arrested on suspicion of a sexual grooming offence.

He has been released on police bail while inquiries continue.

The encounter was filmed and uploaded to social media where users wrongly suggested he the man was linked to a rape in Gillingham last month.
