Thomas Mulroy, of New Road, Chatham, charged with rape

A 52-year-old man has been remanded in custody after being charged with rape.

Thomas Mulroy appeared before Medway Magistrates' Court today.

It is alleged he attacked a woman inside a property in Chatham.

Police say they were called at 9.24pm on Saturday, with the alleged victim reporting that a man had raped and assaulted her.

Mulroy, who lives in New Road in the town, was later arrested and charged with rape, criminal damage and actual bodily harm.

Magistrates remanded him in custody to appear before Maidstone Crown Court on a date to be determined.
