Man rescued by emergency crews from River Medway at Rochester after being seen in the water.

Emergency crews called to the River Medway near Rochester Riverside at 1am this morning

A man was rescued by police and ambulance crews, after climbing out of the water.

A police statement said they were called out to concerns for the welfare of a man seen near the river in Doust Way, Rochester.

The man was found lying by the river bank safe and well, and passed to the care of ambulance crews.

There were concerns a second person may have been in the water so a search was carried out by an RAF helicopter and Sheerness Inshore Lifeboat Crew and the Medway Coastguard team.
