Men in court charged with attack on stranger near McDonald's in Chatham

A man sitting on a bench was beaten in a random attack carried out by two strangers.

The victim was sat near McDonald's in Chatham town centre when he was approached by the two men.

The man in his 40s suffered head injuries and was taken to hospital following the assault in Clover Street at 9am on August 20.

Jack Larkin, of New Road, Chatham and John Shade, of Meadow Bank Road, Chatham, are alleged to have carried out the attack.

Larkin, 29, and Shade, 33, are charged with grievous bodily harm with intent and appeared at Medway Magistrates' Court last week in two separate hearings.

They have been remanded in custody and will appear at Maidstone Crown Court on September 21.
