Thousands of people filled the Great Lines for Medway's annual fireworks extravaganza.

Despite warm temperatures of 20C during the day, things hotted up even more in the evening.

Families lined the fencing to get a close up glimpse, and feel the raging heat, from the huge bonfire.

After being lit by Medway's Mayor Cllr Barry Kemp at 7pm, people stood mesmerised in front of the flames and children waved their flashing toys.

Younger children were able to enjoy a funfair at the Great Lines Heritage Park in Gillingham, and at 7.30pm the main event began.

Fireworks soared and banged for half an hour to the "oohs" and "ahhs" of the public, and squeals of delight from the young ones.
