A power cut has affected businesses on a Strood industrial estate.

EDF Energy say they are looking into the cause of the black out on the Medway City Estate in Strood.

The supplier says the power went off just before 11.40am and 224 customers were affected.

Just before 1pm, spokesman Andrew Drinkwater said: "Power was restored to 193 customers at 12.40pm. Engineers are working as quickly and safely as possible to restore power to the remaining customers affected."

They add that a single customer can account for a unit containing several businesses in some cases.

Mr Drinkwater said it power cut was due to "a fault on the electricity distribution network".

There are 600 businesses on Medway City Estate, employing up to 6,000 people.
