Medway drama group seek actors happy to get kit off

It will be a dress rehearsal with a difference for the cast at Medway Little Theatre when they take to the stage naked.

A brave band of amateur actors from across the Towns will follow in Kelly Brook's footsteps and strip off on stage as the company performs Calendar Girls during its latest season of shows.

And you can join them - you just need to be a woman and be prepare to get naked in front of an audience.

The club’s secretary Maggie Coleman pushed for MLT to perform the play after finding out the amateur rights to stage it were being released for the first time this weekend.

The 60-year-old, who is hoping to play one of the leading ladies in the production, said: "It is a very moving play."

The 2003 hit film by Tim Firth tells the story of a group of women from the Rylstone and District WI who pose naked for a calendar in aid of Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research (L&LR) after one member loses her husband to non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

It starred Julie Walters and Helen Mirren and went on to be made into a West End play which featured dozens of actresses, including Rochester’s own Kelly Brook.

MLT’s production of Calendar Girls runs from May 7 -16 next year with auditions are due to take place in February and are open to the public.
