Yes, it’s Bank Holiday Monday but your Medway Messenger is out as usual with all the latest news, sport and pictures.

There’s a treat for fans of X Factor – we have a competition to win tickets to see this year’s runner-up Olly Murs at Amadeus. You could also win a new book about the Gills’ fantastic promotion season or a family board game.

Not long now until 2010 and we are looking back at 2009 with our Quiz of the Year. Why not try it and see how much you can remember. On the theme of looking back, we revisit the biggest event of the summer, Armed Forces Day, and look at the impact it had on the area.

There’s also our regular Coffee Break page with quizzes, crossword and Sudoku. In pictures, there are cute school nativity photographs, pictures of Gillingham stars meeting young patients at Medway Maritime Hospital and the Christmas Day babies.

Regular columnists Nikki White and kmfm’s Oli Kemp are both in action and Jenni Horn brings you Going Out, our guide to the entertainment scene in Medway.

In the 30-Second Interview you can find out how Star Trek actor George Takei is spending his weeks while he’s in Chatham appearing in Aladdin at the Central Theatre.

There are plenty of reasons to venture out and buy a copy of the Medway Messenger today – don’t miss it.
