Police have detained a man suspected of entering the UK illegally.

Officers were seen surrounding a lorry at the M2 Medway Services near Rainham this morning.

The 22 year old has now been transported to an immigration enforcement facility in Dover to be processed.

A witness said: "You could see a number of police around the lorry and they seemed to be dealing with someone.

"I thought it must be related to an illegal immigrant because you get so many these days."

A police spokesman said officers were called the London-bound side of the services at 6.37am.

The Home Office said the man presented himself as an Iraqi national and is currently being dealt with under the Immigration Rules.
