A spokesman for police in Medway said: “There have been three sightings of him in the Rainham area which officers are investigating but he has been known to go on very long walks and has been known to walk to Maidstone before.”

Mr Raj is 5ft 10ins and of slim build. He walks with a severe stoop, wears glasses and has grey/black hair.

He is well known in both Chatham and Rochester and often wears a long green coat and a woollen hat, although it is not known what he was last seen wearing.

Insp Richard Cherry, added: “We are concerned about Mr Raj’s welfare as his disappearance is out of character and he suffers from some health issues.

“I would ask anybody who has seen him recently to get in touch as soon as possible.”

Anybody with information is asked to call Kent Police on 101. Alternatively, call Missing People on 116 000.
