Barry Dodd: Family tribute to Strood crash victim

The family of a man killed in a motorbike crash have asked for donations to be made in his name to the air ambulance.

Barry Dodd, 71, from Rochester died after coming off his black Herald MTR motorcycle while travelling towards the Wainscott bypass on the A2, Watling Street at around 7pm on Tuesday July 31.

While the crash, which happened close to a traffic island and the junction with Parkfields, is said to have involved only one motorbike, police have continued to appeal for information around the circumstances of the incident.

His family have now also spoken out following his death, releasing the following statement: "Barry was a retired plumber who leaves a wife, son, daughter, five grand-children and a great-granddaughter.

"He will be sadly missed.

"We would ask that any donations made in Barry’s name are made to the Kent Air Ambulance."

Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are continuing to investigate and would like to speak with anyone who saw the collision or the motorcycle in the moments leading up to the incident.

They are also keen to speak with anyone who may have a dash cam fitted on their vehicle and was driving on the A2 Watling Street between 7pm and 7.05pm.
