Traffic lights in Medway are not having a very bright start to the festive period.

Motorists are currently queuing in Two Gates Hill, Rochester, because of a traffic light failure.

It follows traffic lights being off completely in Strood's High Street and Commercial Road after a power cut yesterday afternoon.

A spokeswoman for UK Power Networks said: "Engineers have restored electricity supplies to customers in the High Street area of Strood following an earlier power cut.

"A fault on an underground cable interrupted electricity supplies to 198 customers at 2.02pm, although engineers managed to restore all supplies in stages within 50 minutes.

"We are sorry for any inconvenience caused and our staff reconnected supplies as quickly as possible."
