Chatham men arrested after police discover 25 bottles of alcohol in boot of suspected stolen car

Three men were arrested after police discovered 25 bottles of alcohol stashed in the boot of a suspected stolen car.

Officers pulled the vehicle over in Hawthorn Road, Strood, at 2.15pm on Saturday.

Two men in their 30s and a man in his 40s, all from Chatham, were arrested and the alcohol, including 15 bottles of Jack Daniels, was seized.

One of the trio, who was arrested on suspicion of stealing a car, being equipped for theft, and drug driving has since been released pending investigation.

The other two have been released without charge.

Kent Police Roads tweeted: "Proactive stop caught some very prolific shoplifters. No apologies for ruining their Christmas party."

The alcohol will now either be destroyed, returned to the owners or auctioned by the police property fund.
