In just six months a nursery have boosted their OFSTED rating from inadequate to good.

Cherubs Montessori Nursery in Castle View Road, Rochester was rated inadequate by the school monitoring service in November 2017.

Since then the nursery has been working non stop to improve the building with new carpets and a boiler.

The playground has been kitted out with a new sandpit and construction area.

Nursery Manager Tracey Vick said: "We've had great feedback from our parents surveys, they have really noticed the changes and say it's a much better environment for them to be in."

"There is a new monitoring system for the children, it's not just a tick list, the teachers can use their voices and discuss their progress."

"We've had lots of fun creating new exciting activities over the last few months."

A favourite workshop was learning about reflection using fairy lights and a sea creature hunting activity where we put plastic fish and hair gel in sandwich bags for the children to find.

The nursery were initially condemned for lack of safeguarding, children's progress and building disrepair.

Now the OFSTED inspection said: "Considerable work has been undertaken by leaders and staff, to make sure children are safely cared for.

"Changes include re-organising the layout of rooms to provide children with more challenging learning opportunities.

"Toilet doors have been fitted to provide children with much-needed privacy.

"Throughout the nursery, attractive displays of children's creativity greatly enhance areas and help to promote a strong sense of belonging for everyone.

"Parents comment positively about the nursery, particularly about the improvements that have been made, and say they feel reassured by these."

For the next inspection the nursery hope to keep improving and being creative with teaching and learning.
