Rochester Cathedral visitor resuscitated after collapsing

A visitor to Rochester Cathedral has been taken to hospital in a serious condition after collapsing this afternoon.

It is understood an off-duty nurse performed CPR on the man.

The man collapsed at Rochester Cathedral around 2.30pm

No details about him are known at this stage.

Spokesman Rich Airey said the ambulance service was called just after 2.30pm.

Two land ambulances and two medical cars were sent to the incident.

A fire engine was also on the scene.

Taking over from the nurse, they resuscitated the patient, who was then taken to William Harvey Hospital in Ashford in a serious condition.

The Museum of the Moon at Rochester Cathedral

The place of worship was closed while the medics dealt with the emergency.

Crowds have been flocking to the cathedral this month to see the Museum of the Moon exhibit.

It has been suggested the casualty was viewing it when taken ill, but this is yet to be confirmed.
