Police race to Chatham High Street after alleged assault on officers

Police raced to Chatham High Street after officers were allegedly assaulted by a teenager during an arrest.

Video footage shows three police cars and a police van arrive in the High Street this morning, with around nine officers seen running to the scene on foot.

Officers arrived in force after the incident

Police say officers on patrol in the high street attempted to seize an e-scooter being ridden illegally by a teenage boy at around 10.30am.

They say that during the arrest the boy resisted and assaulted officers.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested in connection with the incident and remains in custody.
