A father whose two adult sons have been struck down by a debilitating genetic disease fears they will miss out on their dream of seeing the Olympic flame coming through Medway.

Nicholas Raines, 49 and his brother Justin, 41 both suffer from Huntingdon’s Disease and rarely go out of their care home in Strood.

But dad Robin Raines hasn't completely given up hope of getting both men in their wheelchairs on the route as the relay blazes through the Towns on Friday.

Robin, 72, who lives in Sittingbourne, said both his sons loved their sport and were looking forward to the Olympics.
He said: “It’s not going to be easy, but I think seeing the torch would mean a lot to them.”
Nicholas and Justin live in Millstream House in Mill Road, a specialist care home for Huntingdon’s Disease sufferers.
Before they transferred to the home, Nicholas, was in the Army where he took part in a lot of sport and Justin was into more extreme activities, such as bungee jumping.
