Both have been bailed pending further enquiries.

The driver of a silver Seat Ibiza, which hit the couple, has not been arrested.

On Sunday, a week after the crash, which killed Elsie Blades, 84, and her 60-year-old daughter Marilyn Herlihy, more than 400 vehicles were stopped and motorists were questioned by police at the scene.

Road checks were set up between 11.30am to 12.30pm, in Station Road, Strood.

The crash which killed the pair happened the Sunday before, July 26, and the road checks were set up to try and find witnesses.
