The accident happened on Strood-bound side of, Corporation Street, at the bottom of Star Hill at about 8.45pm on Monday night when the man, who has not been named, ran across the carriageway.

Police and an ambulance crew were called to the scene, close to the junction of Almon Place and diverted traffic round nearby Bardell Terrace, as police closed the road for around six hours.
