Two flats in the building had to be evacuated and the people who lived there were helped by Kent Fire and Rescue Services's rapid response team.

The British Red Cross also went to the area and helped those affected.

Crews wearing breathing apparatus tackled the flames, but it is understood the people who lived in the flats above the fire will not be able to return to their homes because of the damage caused.
