A disabled pensioner had her mobility scooter stolen as she returned home from a shopping trip.

The 67-year-old woman's buggy was taken from behind garages in Leybourne Road, Strood.

The scooter, a burgundy Shoprider Deluxe model, was stolen between 3-4pm on Monday before her husband could put it away in the garage.

PC Debbie Trowell said: "This is a particularly callous theft, which has caused great inconvenience to the scooter's owner.

"I would urge anyone who has any information to contact police as soon as possible so that we can find those responsible and return the scooter to its owner."

The owner relies on using the scooter, whose index number is TE-889N, to get to the shops and church.

Anyone with any information is asked to phone 01634 792521 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
