Suspected trespasser on line stops trains through Gillingham

Rail services through were suspended shortly after 6pm this evening after a trespasser was reportedly seen on the line.

Network Rail was required to turn off the power to the line for safety reasons.

Southeastern said trains between Rainham and Rochester were affected.

Police were called and by 6.40pm had arrested a suspected intruder and normal services are expected to be resumed shortly.

Southeastern confirmed services were running as normal again at 7.30pm.
