Bail extended for man arrested in connection with illegal rave at Carpetright, Strood

A man arrested in relation to an illegal rave at a former carpet store has had his bail extended.

More than 1,000 people were kicked out of unlicensed music event held at the disused Carpetright store in Strood Retail Park last month.

A 39-year-old man from Ashford was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to commit a public order offence and supplying a psychoactive substance (nitrous oxide).

He was later released on bail up until yesterday (Saturday).

This has now been extended to January 18 while the police conduct further inquiries.

Up to 10 police vehicles attended the incident which went on into the early hours of November 17.

Witnesses said crowds were spotted walking to Rochester and Strood train stations after police broke up the event.

The shelled-out store was littered with empty bottles and discarded drug paraphernalia could be seen discarded outside.
