Mum-of-two, Belinda Blake, 43, who lives in adjoining Berkshire Close, said she had seen a forensics van, sniffer dogs, and several police vans.

She said: "I took my kids to school at 7.30am and didn't see anything.

"When I got back, it was all kicking off. There were more police officers here than Scotland Yard.

"I've lived here for nine years and I've never seen anything like it. It's normally very quiet here.

"We were told they were only going to be here a couple of hours but there's no sign of them leaving just yet."

Kent police spokesman Vicki Foster said: "Kent Police was called at 6.20am on Thursday, October 7 to a report of a man being found with injuries, consistent of a stab wound, in Devon Close, Chatham.
