A boy of six who sparked a police hunt when he was reported missing was found safe and well just over an hour later.
The lad went to retrieve a tennis ball from a back alleyway but failed to return. Police were called at around 6.30pm on Friday June 26.
Officers started a search and taxi and bus firms were also contacted to assist while some members of the public reported seeing a small boy matching his description carrying a tennis ball.
The child was found in Gun Lane, Strood at 7.40pm.
A spokesman for Kent Police said: “Police received a call from an address in Blenheim Avenue just before at 6.30pm on Friday to reports that a six-year-old boy had gone missing from his home. He had been playing tennis in the garden of a family member, the ball went over the fence, he went to retrieve it from a back alley and he did not return.
“He was found in Gun Lane, at the junction with Woodstock Road at 7.40pm.
“He was reunited with his family and is safe and well.”
