Traffic queuing due to police incident on M2 coastbound at Strood

Officers were called to concerns for a man's welfare which closed part of the M2.

Traffic was queuing on the motorway at junction 2 for the A228 Sundridge Hill for Strood and Rochester.

Kent Police was called at around 2.40pm to concerns for a man's welfare.

Officers attended and he was passed safely into the care of medical professionals.

National Highways confirmed the carriageway was shut coastbound due to an ongoing Kent Police Roads led incident.

All lanes were re-opened at around 4.45pm but long delays still remain in the area.

All traffic was being diverted via the exit and entry slip roads at junction 2, to leave and re-join the M2.

There were delays back to the A2 junction with the A227 Wrotham Road.
