Car reversed through Co-Op window in Wainscott, Strood

A ram raid gang reversed a Vauxhall Vectra into a Co-Op window then sped off down the wrong side of the A2.

Police were called to the Co-Op, in Wainscott Road, Wainscott, after reports of a burglary on Friday, August 15, at about 11.40pm.

Officers found the car after it was involved in a collision on the coast-bound slip road of the M25, but the gang fled as police arrived.

A 23-year-old London man was arrested in Dartford at about 3am on Saturday, August 16, on suspicion of burglary, dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of an accident.

The man, who has not been named, has been bailed pending further inquiries.
