Police forced to shut Maidstone Road in Rochester after reports of a collision between a van and a lorry

A busy road was shut for almost three hours this morning following reports of a collision between a van and a lorry.

Police were made aware of a broken down lorry in Maidstone Road, Rochester at 7.04am and officers were forced to close the road.

One witness claimed that the vehicle — thought to be a Spar lorry — had collided with a Tesco van opposite St Margaret’s Cemetery.

No injuries were reported and the road was clear by around 10am.
