Rainham: Splashes pool closed for emergency repairs

A popular pool has been closed this week for emergency repairs to be carried out.

People have been unable to swim at Splashes in Rainham after a light bulb broke.

Part of the sports complex in Bloors Lane shut on Monday for work to be carried out on the fixture and damaged tiles. The gym and fitness classes have carried on as normal.

Jade Edwards, a spokesman for Medway Council, said the swimming pool was closed as a safety precaution. It was expected to reopen tomorrow.

The Medway Council-run centre made the news in November 2016 after reports of dozens of children falling ill with sickness and diarrhoea while visiting the pool.

An investigation was launched by council environmental health officers and the changing rooms and pool were given a deep clean.
